UPSC Recruitment - COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST EXAMINATION 2016- 208 Vacancies - Apply Online
UPSC has released a notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2016. Eligible and interested candidates can now apply online. Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
EXAMINATION NOTICE NO. 4/2016-GEOL
Post and Vacancies:
(a). The categories of post to which recruitment is to be made on the results of this examination and the approximate number of vacancies in the various posts are given below:-
Category I : (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).
(i) Geologist, Group A : 121
(ii) Geophysicist, Group A : 56
(iii) Chemist. Group A : 29
Category II : ( Posts in the Central Ground Water Board , Ministry of Water Resources)
(i) Junior Hydro geologists (Scientist B), Group A : 02
NOTE : 25 vacancies of Geologists are reserved for Physically Challenged candidates (24 for Hearing Impairment (partially Deaf)- and 01 for Loco motor disability or Cerebral Palsy) (OA, OL).
5 vacancies of Geophysicist (1 for Blind or Low Vision 2 for hearing Impairment 2 for Loco motor disability (OA, OL, or Cerebral palsy)
4 Vacancies of Chemists ( 3 for Blindness/Low Vision and 1 for Loco motor disability or Cerebral Plasy
The above numbers of vacancies are liable to alteration. Appointments will be made on a temporary basis in the first instance.
(i) For Geologists Gr 'A' in Geological Survey of India
(a) Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Are as Studies or Petroleum Geo sciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)
( b ) For Geophysicists Gr ' A ' i n Geological Survey of India M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) Or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
( c ) For Chemists Gr 'A ' in Geological Survey of India M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.
